Just
incase some of you haven’t heard, this weekend marks the
2nd annual Greater Vernon Dragon Boat race &
festival which will be taking place on Kalamalka lake
Saturday 8am – 10pm & Sunday 8am-6pm. There will be a
variety of fun events happening on the water between
races including a water ski demonstration Sunday at
around noon, this will be one for the record books as a
team of 20 paddlers try to lift a water skier up from a
deep water start!!!! There will be local vendors on the
beach, live entertainment and a beer garden to help
quench your thirst during this very hot and sunny
weekend!

PENTICTON RACING CANOE CLUB NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
- The
Penticton
Racing Canoe Club is hosting what could
possibly be the longest single day race in North
America.
They are looking for eight club members to serve
on the organizing committee for the 2006 Length
of the Lake
outrigger canoe race.
Positions required are:
- Race Director
- Race Registrar
- Aid Station Coordinator
(Fintry/Peachland/Finish)
- Aid Station Coordinator
(Bear Creek/Summerland)
- Escort Boat Coordinator
- Prize Coordinator
- Door Prize Coordinator
- Party Coordinator
- Public Relations
Anyone who is interested in joining the
organizing committee can attend a meeting July
21 at 8 p.m. at the Skaha Lake boathouse.

Mountain is the place to be. I got to spend a
few moments up there this weekend with my family and we
really had fun.

SunValley Speedway will be hosting round 4 of the
CASCAR super
series on July 15th and 16th. There has been a
slight timing change, so be sure to check out the
SunValley website for all the details.

WHAT A DAY IT WAS

July 1st was
a great day for me. I was a little sad that my
trusty EF lens was not with me (but the folks at
Photography West promised they would take good care of
it). I did get to do a lot of neat stuff and meet
some nice people. I will have the photos and the
article from day one of the Canada Day Weekend up
shortly.

In the

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA
You're not looking too shabby
for 139 years old!

As you can
guess there are quite a few racing events happening
around the valley this weekend. Some serious and
others leaning towards the lighter side. So let's
start with the fun stuff! The Westside puts on a great
show every Canada Day long weekend. This year is
no exception with the
Westside Daze Bathtub Races. So come on down
and check out the festivities.

runners out there, check out the Canada Day 5km run
starting at the Hog's Breath cafe in Penticton.
