  • IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This Saturday and Sunday the Knox Mountain Hillclimb organizers are looking for car racing enthusiasts that are interested in volunteering at the premier motorsports event in BC. The Knox Mountain Motorsports Club needs volunteers for either one or both days this coming long weekend. The club needs people that would like to be up close and on track working as volunteers. The work consists of watching the cars and spectators for safely and occasionally sweeping the track.

Every volunteer will have lunches provided for them both days and they will also receive a Knox Mountain Hillclimb volunteer t-shirt.

If you would like to volunteer please email Matt Scaife at mortgages@717-MRTG.ca or you can call him at 717-MRTG (6784) and leave a message, or you can just show up on Saturday or Sunday at the start line at 7:00 am for the volunteers meeting. All volunteers must be at least 19 years old.

  • Autocross this evening at McCurdy Centre- Jim and Brian will be organizing, and there is talk of more thundershowers.
  • Matt did let us know that vehicle entries are somewhat lower this year for the Knox Mountain Hill Climb, which means more hill time for the drivers that are here. With the fantastic weather expected, it promises to be a great race weekend.
  • Becky Scott, recently retired from the Canadian Olympic X-C Ski Team, has accepted a position on the board of directors for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games Organising Committee. To do so, gold-medal winner Catriona Le May Doan stepped down. What, only one female medalist allowed?

Saturday, May 13th

  • Thursday's Autocross update: As the drivers arrived, the spectre of the first rain-day of the autocross season was apparent. That bright sliver of sun to the west was encouraging, and by the time drivers' meeting was called, the rain stopped, much to everybody's appreciation. Matt was first car out, and as usual, posted a good time. But with the course drying out after each vehicle, times were steadily dropping. Tension was in the air as Terry Dunn and (older guy red miata black roll bar) battled for superiority- with Dunn victorious.  Eric managed to wipe out an entire row cones, an unwelcome combination of wet corner, no traction, and turbo power! In the hunt for FTD were Ron, Zack, and Marcell- swapping the title of FTD until the final round, when Marcel broke the 38 second barrier. Congratulations to all drivers, job well done! Photos are on their way.
