The second day of this year's
PUSHOR MITCHELL Kelowna Apple Triathlon was wet.
While it did not make a difference to the swim
portion, and it cooled down the run portion of the
event, it did make the bike course a little
slippery.

I think
the thing that stood out most in my mind was the
Try-a-Tri class. These guys and gals were very
good and a great inspiration to all of us.

What a fantastic day of racing! Before we even
start with the photos, something has to be said
about the organization of event. From a
spectator/media point of view everything was
perfect. The organizing committee and huge
amount of volunteers truly do an amazing job each
year! Kelowna should be proud.
Ok, I
know, lets get on with the show. Bill and I
took quite a few pictures, but he beat me to the
finish line with the first set.

This weekend is the KELOWNA APPLE TRIATHLON.
Check out the

for race information and road closures. If you
are driving, please keep an eye out for the racers.
We will
be on hand to capture some of the action, so stay

I hate
to break the news, but it is getting darker a little
earlier in the evening now. This little fact
sends shivers down even the most burly autox racers'
back. But, let's not dwell on that, besides
Canon does make some very good low light lenses.

The stop by
SouthWest Motorrad this weekend.
For a small donation, you get to test ride some of
the finest motorcycles in the valley. The
money is going to the
Morning Star Bible Camp for kids. |

Saturday
was a very busy day for the racers in this year's
Fantastic Four. The day started with a really
long road race and then finished off with a high
speed time trial.

was a photographer's dream and racer's nightmare at
McCurdy Corner.
Cones were everywhere.

A WEEKEND OF
RACING AHEAD |
|
|
If last year's event is
anything to go by, then the Fantastic Four is not to
be missed.
Fresh Air
Experience and a ton of volunteers really do
a great job each year.
Racing starts at 5pm on
Friday with a hill climb and what better place for
it than our own Knox Mountain. Bright and
early Saturday morning, there will a road race in
South East Kelowna and at 5pm there will be a time
trial on Old Vernon Road. Finally, a criterium will
be held Sunday morning on Jim Bailey Road in
Winfield. For information on this event,

There will be a lot
of participants this year and if you are driving in
these areas, please slow down and use caution.

THUNDER IN
THE MOUNTAINS |
|
I must
admit that I love that tingling feeling as the sound
waves ripple throughout my body. (Ok, it's more like
a tidal wave!) There is nothing that compares
to standing on the side of a drag strip as huge
horsepower monster launches off the line. It's
been awhile since I have had the time to get up to
Thunder Mountain Raceway. I really
missed the amazing show they put on and the nice
family friendly atmosphere. Well, I finally
got my fix this past weekend and there is still a
huge smile on my face.

The
Kelowna BMX
track has been a busy place this past week.
With rain out catch-ups and some minor rescheduling
to do there were races on the 28th and the 30th of
July. Bill Robertson was on hand to capture
some of the excitement.
