First
and foremost we have to send out some rounds of
congratulations! A few members of the Kelowna
BMX Club are making a name for themselves in the UCI
World Championships. Parker Simson got World
1st in the 9 boys class. Nathalie Schmidt came in at
World 4th in the 5-7 Girls and Alex Milnes placed
World 8th in the 11 Boys. Amazing results.

What a
busy two weeks it has been. One of the
casualties of the office renovation has been the
delay of the autocross photos. So we will will
start with the latest and work our way back.

A BUSY RACE
WEEKEND AHEAD |
|
|
Racing
fans will have their hands full this weekend.
There will be thunder in the air this weekend at
Kelowna's best and only drag strip. Racing is
on Saturday and Sunday. There may be a few surprises
in stall.
Mike
Kunz's wheelstander is planning
to do some testing and Cory Kincaid's nostalgia
funny car will be on hand. Be sure to bring
your ear plugs! You can check out
www.thundermountainraceway.com for event
times and track location.
Saturday is also a
Kelowna BMX
Raceday!
Kin Park
in Vernon will be holding what may be their last
ever horse racing event on Sunday. (We hope to
have more info soon. It would be sad to see
100 years of racing tradition come to an end.) |

BMX RAINED OUT &
MAKE UP DATES |
|
Unlike,
some other forms of racing, BMX racers need to have
a clean and dry (well, maybe slightly damp) tracks.
So far this month, they have not had the weather
gods on their side.
Saturday
28th July will be a make up race day.
Registration
is from 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Monday 30th July
will also be a race day as there will be no race on
Wednesday the 1st of August. |

his pics from two weeks ago.

The
Kelowna BMX
Club's first race in July was a scorcher! It
made for a nice change from last month's very
un-Okanagan summer.
The heat while great for the beach goers, was pretty
intense on the track. I know I was drenched by
the end of the evening. Nevertheless it was a
fun night of racing.

AUTOCROSS PHOTOS

It was
another great evening of autocross at the McCurdy
Corner Mall. The mall is a one stop evening of
entertainment for the whole family. Where else
can you catch great racing action, enjoy good food (Quiznos,
Triple O's, Freddies Brew Pub), or if the kids get
bored they can enjoy bowling, pc games and of course
the Grand Ten Movie theatres. Let's not forget
about the Brick - the perfect place to find that
performance part for your home.
So come on down for some great family fun.

Boy, did I loose a day today.
It was not until Bill called at 6:30pm asking
"politely" of my whereabouts that I found out it was
Wednesday night. Now, it could be that my son
is out of school and we were having too much fun, or
maybe it was the fantastic dinner at Nishi's the
night before, but in no way did I think it was
Wednesday. I rushed to get my trusty camera
ready and jumped in the car and I was able to catch
the last round of racing for the night.
Well at least I got my photos up first.
