What a
close race season this turned out to be.
Thursday was the last race of the 2007 Kelowna
Autocross Series, and what a nail biter it was.
When all was said and done, Jim McLaughlan in his
1990
TRAVELTYME RV sponsored Miata came out on
top. He narrowly beat Matt Scaife and his
PRIMUS 1995
Miata.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
BMX ACTION |
|
The
Kelowna BMX club really needs a few dry days to
complete it's season. Rain may be very
important for all of you with green thumbs, but it
is not good for the race track. Just a
reminder - Please do not use the track when it is
wet, damp and/or muddy. Ruts will form very
quickly and that is unsafe for the racers. Cal
Maier was on hand to get some of the racing action
from last Wednesday night.

WANT TO SEE A
CRC EVENT HELD LOCALLY? THEN YOU WILL LIKE THIS! |
The closest Canadian Rally Championship event we
have is the
Pacific
Forest Rally. It
is held in Merritt, BC. It has the full support of
the city and they have a fantastic turnout. It
is a very well planned event and we love going down
there each year.
So where am I going with this? Well, would you
like to see an event here in the heart of the
Okanagan? We would, and the folks at
Prescribed Burn
want to give you a taste of the action. This
Saturday,
4-6 teams from Alberta and BC will be testing rally
cars on a 7km stretch of gravel road in the Bear
Creek Area. There will be marshals and a
spectator area. So come on down and show your
support. |

DAY TWO OF
THE DRAGON BOAT ACTION |
 |
|
PHOTO: BILL
ROBERTSON |
|
Mother
Nature was a little more windy today. The kite
boarders might like that, but lining up a dragon
boat on a starting line proved to be a little more
difficult. Bill Robertson was there to capture
some of the action.
As for the team I was rooting for? Well, they
decided it was a little choppy to do the first race
and then found out there was no time for the second
one, so they were a little disappointed, but had a
lot of fun anyway.
I have
to say that this event was very well organized from
a spectator point of view. Everything from the
food vendors and small stores to the interaction
with the participants was amazing. Great work! |

DRAGON BOAT
RACING |
|
I have
never seen so many tents around Tug Boat beach.
It was good to see the fantastic turnout for this
years
Kelowna International Dragon boat Festival
sponsored by
Lake City Casinos. Now I have to admit
I was rooting for the Vernon team, Dragon Riders.
Although they did not fare so well on Saturday, I
hope Sunday will be better.

If you
have never been to a Provincial BMX race before, you
gotta go. It's has all the excitement of the
weekly races, but the intensity level of the racers goes
up quite a few notches. You can almost feel their
need to win.
William Burgher was up at the
Vernon BMX
track this weekend, to capture all the handlebar to handlebar
(and some handlebar to ground) action.

Every
month our editor gives us his thoughts and ideas.
For the most part they give us something to think
about or at least a different way to look at things.
We are currently redoing all of his ramblings since
the beginning, so bear with us.
Here is
